Growing up the daughter of a dynamic duo such as my dad as a minister and my mom the church pianist, I was always in church. The fact that we lived in the parsonage right next door till I was 12 only added to my exposure in all things church related. (Seriously, I couldn’t be outside without being in the shadow of the steeple.) Riding my bike around the parking lot, playing on the typewriter in the church office, helping clean out the pews with our custodian, to visiting members with my Dad, and waiting the oh-so-long hours it took for choir rehearsals and meetings to be over. I was a church kid…or PK, as we called it.(preachers kid) We eventually moved to a new town and I grew older but still heavily involved in everything for my age at church.       I successfully completed competitions for Bible Drill, I finished the Girls in Action workbooks to recieve Queen Regent status(if you know, you know), and attended church every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and al

Oh my word, if I have to hear someone complaining about something they hate one more time I think I may combust.  Seriously.  Our ears and eyes are inundated with others opinions on this, that, and the other consistently on TV shows, News, Movies, Social Media, and just conversation with others.  When did we all get so wrapped up in supporting one anothers hatred towards something. From the simple act of one little girl proclaiming she hates my daughters new outfit and others joining in the ridicule, to one political group hates the opinions of another political group and they begin a full out verbal war to attack each other. It’s happening at all levels, all ages, all demographics.  People want to join in the fight. To me, it just seems people are looking to get behind something and win. Well what if I told you I knew some “things" worth hating and you can never lose when you get behind them.     In Proverbs 6:16-19, God tells us 6 things He hates,

For Such A Time as This

Growing up I had dreams of being a wife and a mother. Like most little girls, I wanted the cute house, the handsome, loving husband, and the nicely dressed, well-behaved children.  I wanted to cook family meals, make magical memories out of holidays and special events, and enjoy the laughter and bliss I knew a family could bring.  ENTER REALITY.   I have been blessed to aquire many of these amazing family attributes I desired as a girl, however a little more muddy and loud than I had anticipated.  Raising a family is insanely exhausting.  The to-do list is never complete…and if you think it is, think again…. you know there’s a dirty dish in your sink right now even though you just filled the DISHWASHER!!!  More than the ever present dirty laundry and dinner needing to be cooked, is the growing need for our family units protection.      Todays main stream culture does not celebrate the family unit. If anything, from this moms perspective, it is out-right trying to destroy it!
